Natural History Museum Hotels
Sometimes dubbed a cathedral of nature, the Natural History Museum was built and opened by 1881 and is home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 70 million items within five main collections: Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Palaeontology and Zoology. It’s particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons, exemplified by the large Diplodocus cast which dominates the vaulted central hall.
The state-of-the-art Darwin Centre - developed at a cost of £78 million - is designed as a new home for the museum's collection of tens of millions of preserved specimens, as well as new work spaces for the museum's scientific staff, and new educational visitor experiences.
